A tough guy or gal, usually an anti-hero, characterised as a person who is reckless, ruthless, intimidating and uncompromising, yet possesses a sense of unrelenting heroism and courage, even a lack of self-preservation, that garner the attention, respect and adulation from a group of people, usually males.
