L Letterbox, letterboxing An alternative to pan and scan, letterboxing is a process of squeezing a widescreen movie into a fullscreen, 4:3 format, while still retaining the widescreen aspect ratio. As a result, you'll see two black bars on the bottom and at the top of the screen. Pro: unlike pan and scan, nothing is cropped away. Con: unlike anamorphic widescreen, the picture quality and resolution isn't optimised due to the black bars taking up unnecessary resources. If it's hard to understand, just remember this: Anamorphic widescreen > letterbox > pan and scan. Live-action A movie shot with real people and locations, as opposed to animation. Long Shot More commonly known as a Wide Shot. See Wide Shot. Looping See Dubbing. |
