N Noir, Film Commonly associated to crime-themed movies where the actions of every character, even the hero (or anti-hero) are morally questionable. Film noirs are popularly associated with dark silhouettes, private detectives (or "private eyes") and femmes fatales. One of the few confusing movie genres out there, where some people are even calling it a style rather than a genre. Examples of film noir: The Maltese Falcon, Chinatown, Strangers on a Train, and most of Alfred Hitchcock's other movies. Example of a film that tried to emulate noir: Sin City. Pronounced as "nwar". |
