Flying doors and bullets
Exiled is a badass movie. At first I didn’t know what the hell was going on, but then I realized that it is a cool movie! They even have a duel gun fighting scenes at the earlier part of the movie, where the three guys battle it up to see who’s the man. It’s like when martial arts guys are trying to show who is the best by fighting one another, or a samurai dueling with another opponent. I was taken by surprise, thinking that they were shooting each other to their graves because someone discovered that one of them was a snitch or something (which is a very common story in most movies)… but actually they did it for practice. Now, that’s what I call entertainment! Ha ha…
This movie is completely un-logic and doesn’t make any sense; therefore don’t give a sh*t about the storyline. Just sit down and enjoy the cool gun blasting moments and heart pumping action, which never fail to deliver. The blood scenes are also cool, more comic-like than the normal ‘tomato sauce’ style. It’s pretty neat, reminded me of Sin City… pretty comical indeed. Whatever is it, I think it’s the style and cool attitude that makes this movie seems lively. It’s like watching a Clint Eastwood movie, except it’s in a group instead of solo mode. With this kind of style, we could see a new generation of John Woos, except that John is luckier to have people with cool attitude like Yuen Fat and Lung Ti. Again, director Johnny To (Election) has recycled and reused his team of familiar faces like Nicky Cheung, Francis Ng, Suet Lam and especially Simon Yam. I can’t complain, though, ‘cause at least this movie didn’t suck.

Parts that you shouldn’t miss: -
1) Dueling in da house – the flying door part reminded me of
Savior of the Soul. Usually no one will duel with guns because it will almost certainly end with death.

2) Table massacre scene - Simon Yam got his balls busted! – authentically cool blood-bashing party!

3) Surgeon’s room – A cool ambush which is totally un-logic but fun!  - Nicky Cheung doesn’t die immediately even after eating multiple shots! Reminded me of
A Better Tomorrow 2’s last part where those guys get shot multiple times but at least still managed to die by sitting down in an honorable way.

3) Nicky Cheung’s death – this guy looks funny even when he dies! Luckily he died, otherwise I would have shown middle finger.

4) Discovery of a marksman in da jungle – recruitment for the team (a bit weird, but… what the heck!)

5) Final countdown – battle to the death! – This is the best part of the movie, where everyone gets blown to bits… super un-logic, but who cares, man? That’s what we are craving for!

The story is plain Jane, the action is awesomely, wholesomely good… There are some parts of the movie where you will get bored, but for one to enjoy the movie, just appreciate the action. Way to go, Johnny…
