Flight was ok, but the landing was bumpy
Jodie Foster’s back in another mom-and-young-daughter-in-peril thriller, which will very soon become a trademark genre for Ms Foster. Kyle Pratt (Foster) is returning to the States with daughter Julia, and all seems well on their flight, until her child disappears. No one seems to have noticed that her daughter was ever on board, not even the flight attendants, and tension begins to escalate when no record of her daughter was found on the flight manifest. Was someone playing a malicious game on poor Kyle, or did she just imagine up a daughter she never had in the first place? (hinting at a possible Sixth Sense-like scenario)

Flightplan is one of those “whodunits” that you can’t write too much about without spoiling the experience for the readers. Let’s just say if the premise above is enough to intrigue you, go watch the movie. The execution and set-up is classily done. Only disappointment? The resolution of the mystery. Gets a crowd-pleasing hurrah, but can’t really stand up to logic during post-movie reflection. Still, the process of trying to figure it out is half the fun already, and that’s always better than no fun at all. -
