Anyway, coming back to the movie…

At the beginning, everything looks like it came out from other movies.
The Terminator, Independence Day... you name it. The fighting between the Decepticons and the army reminded me of Starship Troopers (omigosh! Really?) except less violence (chey…). I was like, “Is this the best you can do???” The fighting scenes are pretty messy. To be honest, I’m not sure… is this supposed to be Transformers? I never felt that I was watching a Transformers movie at all.
I thought it was more like watching
Starship Troopers and Aliens, plus the droid that transforms into smaller objects reminded me of Alien newborns. Furthermore, there are some parts where Megatron looked too much like Sauron (Lord of the Rings), especially the part where they show Cybertron with the volcanoes and all. Arrrggghh!

At least Sam Witwicky made the movie a little more entertaining. Steven Spielberg might have taken a liking for this guy (and hired him to do
Indy 4) because he reminded me of Michael J. Fox in his previous movie Back to the Future. I feel that Transformers had been made into a comedy rather than a movie that delivers the real deal of metal-to-metal destruction. As usual, the movie has a very weak storyline. I think we have seen this kinda of stories in so many other movies. I was like, “Oh… Ok… Ah... Independence Day’s Area 51? In this movie, it's Area 7 or something. Government cover-ups, blah, blah, blah... Sounds quite unoriginal eh?

The movie is quite a rip-off of many movies, I’m telling you. Even the fighting scenes in the city reminded me of
The Incredibles. But so far, I don't think anything can beat The Incredibles because I really put my two thumbs above heaven and thanked Jesus for his kindness in producing such a good movie. Transformers? I think for the city part, Godzilla (1998) is even better.

Anyway, the introduction of Optimus Prime was rather weak. Have you seen
Transformers: The Movie (cartoon)? I am telling you with sincere honesty, even that cartoon can beat this movie. The introduction of Optimus Prime in that movie can make even John Woo cry.

What I can say is that
Transformers is one movie that a person can enjoy if they don't know what it is supposed to be. For a person who was born to watch this gig since he was wearing his diapers, it's a real disappointment. But it's enough to cheat some small kids to ask their daddies to buy them a Bumblebee toy for sure. Hurray to Michael Bay for destroying the Transformers. Anyway, whatever happened to StarScream? Maybe I didn't noticed him, because even the great Megatron is not that great after all.

Optimus Prime using a sword to fight? I was totally pissed off by this. Where is his original sonic pulse blaster? Why end up becoming a
The Last Samurai/Voltron gig? I feel that Michael Bay doesn't know s*** about Transformers. Even Megan Fox is not able to help this movie very much! Too bad. I just felt that this movie has been more action-comedy-focused rather than living up to the real Transformers. What I can say is, this movie is entertaining enough to keep it on the average spot for me. I would give it 2.5/5 - average. It's still watchable, so don't worry. My recommendation is to watch Transformers: The Movie (cartoon) instead. It has a better balance of action and comedy and also greater music selections.

Next movie I’m looking forward to watching -

Godzilla is better
Transformers! At last! I sat on the chair, praying for this childhood movie to be good, or at least be what I was expecting. It started out like Predator, except it has less macho-ness and no swearing. And as predicted, there is the hunk-to-be hero army soldier (often clean-shaven, with neat hair cut and righteousness), Captain Lennox. This kind of hero is very common in every war movie and often they can do incredible feats like blasting 10-storey robots by sliding under them. Well, you gotta watch the movie to understand this.
